Jetty Benson

September 28, 1926 — January 22, 2009

Jetty Marie Benson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on January 22, 2009 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center having reached the age of eighty two years, three months and twenty five days. She was born on September 28, 1926 a daughter of the late John Brewer and Virginia Lucy Brewer.

Jetty was a member of the White Oak Grove Church for many years. She enjoyed church and held a strong bond with the Lord. She will be sadly missed as a church member at White Oak Grove.

Jetty?s first love in life was her children and grandchildren. She taught the children the value of being a responsible people. She also shared the gift of music with them. They all shared many laughs and enjoyed life to the fullest. She always said that she grew up with her children, so she had as much fun as they did. The love she had for both her children and grandchildren is something that they will cherish forever.

Jetty had a deep compassion for people. She always treated everyone as an individual. She had a way to single each person out and make them feel as of they where the only person in the room.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Benson; five brothers Winfred Brewer, Bill Brewer, Jim Brewer, Ottis Brewer, Roland Brewer; son in law Roger ?Monk? Coleman; two sisters Leona Becker and Opal Shoults.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life are three sons David Benson and wife Karen of Oklahoma, Jeffery Benson and wife Tammy of Potosi, Christopher Benson and wife Stephanie of Texas; four daughters Lana Vandergriff and husband Mike of Cadet, Brenda Marler and husband Vernon of Potosi, Janice Coleman and special friend Wendell Eye of Potosi, Jill DeClue and husband Pat of Potosi; sister Hazel Rand; twenty two grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Melvin Reed and Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were David Vandergriff, Jerad Marler, Scott Marler, Kelly Benson, R.P. Coleman, Mike DeClue and Colby Benson.

Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
