Jessie Ray Kennedy of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on February 26, 2008 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of seventy-one years, eleven months and twenty-nine days. He was born on February 28, 1936 at Clinton, LA, a son of the late Louis Kennedy and Lillie (Cox) Kennedy.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis Marie Lacy on October 6, 1956 at South Ruislip, England and three daughters were born to that union. Mrs. Kennedy preceded him in death on July 3, 2004.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Lynn Jones; three brothers and two sisters.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Potosi and was a very active member. He served our Country for twenty years in the United States Air Force.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his daughters, Jeannie Breaux and husband, Steve of Carriere, MS, Patricia Burton and husband, Daryl of Chandler, AZ; a sister, Thelma Clark and husband Tom of Potosi; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Curtis Bill Warren officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Stanley Conway, Steve DeClue, John Seibel, Dave Holschen, Adam Cain and Clarence Miner. Honorary pallbearers were Don McCourtney and Harold Pierce.
Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Garden, Potosi, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
