Jesse Holmes

Jesse Franklin Holmes of New Florence, Missouri, formerly of Potosi, departed this life February 24, 2009 at the D.C.I. Dialysis Center in Mexico, MO, having reached the age of seventy four years, eleven months and fourteen days. He was born on March 10, 1934 a son to the late Cluster Holmes and Delphia Mullens Holmes.

On July 30, 1954, Jesse was united in marriage to Jerri Benson and they shared almost fifty five years together. Jesse was member of the First Assembly of God in Potosi for thirty years. He was a current member of the Bridge Fellowship in Troy for eight years. Jesse was a man of God. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.

Jesse spent his pastime fishing. He was able to fish in several parts of the country while traveling with Steve. He was always ready to go on a trip with a minutes notice. He never had a care where he was headed and when he may be back. Jesse loved his family. He enjoyed every moment he spent with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son John Holmes also known as ?little John?; sister Betty Bailey and brother George Holmes.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life are his wife Jerri Holmes of New Florence; son Steve Holmes of New Florence; three daughters Rhonda Berkbigler and husband Steve of New Florence; Tammy Dunlap of New Florence; Krista Holmes of Potosi; a daughter in-law Pam Holmes of New Florence; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 27, 2009 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel with Pastor Connie Carrigan officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Derrick Holmes, Jesse Holmes, Scott Holmes, Cody Berkbigler, Matt Montgomery, Christopher Link, and Patrick Wright.

Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
