Jerry Leon West of Bonne Terre, Missouri departed this life on January 6, 2013 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of seventy years, eleven months and sixteen days. He was born on January 21, 1942 in Joplin, Missouri a son to the late Barton West and Alice (Stewart) West.
Jerry served in the United States Marines from 1963 to 1965.
On May 23, 1992, Jerry was united in marriage to Phyllis Springer and they shared twenty years together.
Jerry was full of life. His love for God is what kept him going until the end. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodwork carving. His faith never left him no matter how much he suffered in health and no matter what activities he loved and enjoyed that he had to give up. Besides his faith and love in the Lord, his love for his family was never ending.
Jerry was a member of the Potosi Assembly of God.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Phyllis West of Bonne Terre; four daughters Day (Rick) Kelley of Arkansas; Betty Newberry of Tennessee; April (Tim) Morris of Kansas; Debi Riggs of Missouri; three sons Doug Bernard of Arkansas; Bill (Michelle) McCowan of Tennessee; Fred (Tracy) Carr of Valle Mines, Missouri; two brothers Terry (Cathy) West of Joplin, Missouri; Richard West of Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 2 PM at the Caledonia Assembly of God with Rev. Gary Petty and Rev. Oscar Barton officiating.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Assembly of God Cemetery with full military honors presented by the United States Marines and Local VFW Post #6996. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
