Jerry Gibson

Jerry Gale Gibson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on August 10, 2016 at his residence having reached the age of seventy three years. He was born on February 28, 1943 in Stoney Point, a son to the late Ernest William Gibson and the late Ella Marie (Mercer) Gibson. On October 29, 1960, Jerry was united in marriage to Joan (Gross) Gibson and three children were born unto this union.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Gibson of Potosi; three children: Jeffrey Gibson and wife Bambi, Teresa Richards and husband Victor, and Timothy Gibson and wife Chrissy – all of Potosi; brothers: Norman Gibson and wife Marilyn of Potosi, Bobby Gibson and wife Norma of Lovelock, Nevada, and Michael Gibson of Potosi; sisters: Ruth Morgan and Shirley Cordingly – both of Potosi; grandchildren: Jeff Gibson, Jr. and wife Tiffany, Joshua Gibson and wife Tarah, Abbie Bequette and husband Nick, Alys Moyers and husband Kyle, Colby Gibson, Connor Gibson, and Tanner Gibson; and great-grandchildren: Kya, Kaydence, Kinley, Lane, Noah, Adelaide, Cooper, and Caiden.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Gibson, and a baby brother, Larry Dale Gibson.

Jerry was full of life. He had a smile that could light up a room and the most infectious laugh. He loved spending time outdoors, especially when he was hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. Jerry was a hard worker, even at home. He and his wife, Joan, enjoyed growing a garden together and took pride in maintaining a beautiful yard. He liked watching westerns and could tell you about every single one. His stories were the best.

Jerry’s love for God, his wife, and his family were evident in the life he lived. He never lost his sense of humor, even in his final days. Jerry was and always will be loved deeply. His one of a kind personality will be greatly missed, but his memory will be carried on by many.

Visitation for Jerry was held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday, August 13, 2016, beginning at 9:00 AM. A funeral service was held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at the DeClue Memorial Chapel officiated by his grandson, Bro. Jeff Gibson, Jr.

Honoring Jerry by serving as his pallbearers were Victor and Teresa Richards, Jeff Gibson, Jeff Gibson, Jr., Tim and Chrissy Gibson, and Joshua Gibson. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Colby Gibson, Conner Gibson, and Tanner Gibson.

Interment and final prayers will be held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the funeral arrangements of Jerry during this time of remembrance.
