Jason Callahan

September 8, 1978 — July 5, 2008

Jason Edward Callahan of Bonne Terre, Missouri departed this life on July 5, 2008 at St. Anthony?s Medical Center, having reached the age of twenty-nine years, nine months and twenty-seven days. He was born at Festus, Missouri on September 8, 1978, a son of Walter Callahan and the late Beverly Wilson Callahan.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Angie Callahan; a brother, John Callahan; his grandmother, Dorothy Cooley; grandfather, Fred Wilson; and grandfather, John Edward Callahan.

Jay, as he was known by those close to him, always brought laughter to those around him. He has a giving and unselfish soul and would help anyone who needed anything. The best parts of his life have been hunting with his dad and brother, playing Texas-Hold ?Em with the boys, and sports (especially watching the Denver Broncos). The happiest part of his life was becoming a dad. His son, Chase, is his world and heart. He was a member of the Potosi Elks.

He worked hard at his job at Laclede Gas and always helped those around him. He lived in Colorado and Las Vegas prior to moving back to Missouri to be close to his family.

Jay always played with his nieces and nephews. For holidays he always made sure the gifts were wrapped instead of in a bag, so the kids could enjoy opening the present. He shared many memories with Chase going to the races, the zoo, Monster Jam and museums.

He was loving to his family, never saying a mean word to anyone. He rarely showed anger and would go along with and enjoy whatever was going on around him.

He collected baseball and football cards since he was a young boy. He always made people laugh because he was very clumsy. He was always running into things like monkey bars and u-haul doors. He tripped running backwards at basketball practice in 8th grade and broke his arm.

His son, Chase, is unable to be with us today due to his age. We know his dad will always be with him. We will continue to celebrate Jason?s life with Chase.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his father, Walter Callahan and wife, Kathy of Potosi; a son, Chase Callahan of Colorado; his grandmother, Wilma Briley of Bonne Terre; a brother, Denis Callahan of Bonne Terre; his sister, Heather Sites of Bonne Terre; two step-sisters, Ashley Williams of Illinois, Brittany Williams of Illinois; a step-brother, Ryan Williams of Illinois; nieces and nephews, Schyler Mendoza, Kaylin Sites, Marisa Callahan, Seth Birkett, Chloe Busker; aunts; uncles; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri, with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Denis Callahan, Rob Young, Stuart Tyree, Chris Jordan, Tim Finley, Steve Williams, Jason Hickman and Don Sites.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi, Missouri.
