James Eugene Thompson, Sr., also known by family and friends as “Jimmy,” was born on July 17, 1943 in Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late James H. Thompson and the late Annie (Montgomery) Thompson. On August 25, 1962 Jimmy was united in marriage to Linda Jo Wilkinson.
Jimmy entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 29, 2016 having reached the age of seventy three years, three months and twelve days.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Linda Jo Thompson of Cadet; four children: Eugene Thompson of Cadet, Joann Breakfield and husband Ervin of Potosi, Tuddy Guenther and husband Jeff of Blackwell, and Terry Thompson and wife Alicia of Bonne Terre; four brothers: Johnny Wachoski and wife Lori of Oregon, Thomas Howell of Fredericktown, William David Lingo, and Lester Henson of Desloge; three sisters: Mary Ann Reynolds of White Water, Theresa Glasser and husband Kenny of Cape Girardeau, and Annie Davis of Bismarck; eleven grandchildren: James William Thompson, Klint Thompson, Lance Breakfield, Kristin Strange and husband T.J., Frankie Guenther, Misty Jo Propst and husband Keegan, Dustin Thompson, Eli Thompson, Anita Nickless, Cameron Crane, and Destiny Crane; and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by three brothers: Russell Sage Thompson, Don Thompson, and Mark Wachoski; sisters: Shirley Harbison and Elizabeth Harr; and brothers-in-law: Eugene Harbison, Ed Harr, and John Reynolds
.Jimmy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a devoted deacon of the church.
Visitation for Jimmy was held on Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 4:30 PM until 6:00 PM at the Cadet Baptist Church. A Funeral Service was conducted on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Cadet Baptist Church with Pastor John Jones officiating.
