James Spencer of Potosi Missouri entered eternal rest Thursday, September 5, 2024, having reached the age of 73 years old. James was born on September 7, 1950, to the late George and Jean (Shaffer) Spencer.
It would be safe for one to say that James was a highly educated man of many talents and hobbies. He was especially gifted in music. He could play nearly any instrument which led him to play drums for several big names in music including Tanya Tucker, Lina Ronstadt, Don Williams, and Merle Haggard. James worked as an engineer at the Norfolk Southern Railway until his retirement. He found enjoyment in both farming and spending time with his family. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather who lived life to the fullest and found laughter in all seasons of life.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Wilgus) Spencer; son, Jeffery Spencer; brother, Richard Spencer; and three grandchildren: Jeffery, Ericka, and Nathan.
James is survived by his children: Christy Josey (husband Nathan), Michael Spencer (wife, Mary), and Eric Spencer (wife Gina); fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Christina Knowles, Karen Pouge (husband Bobby), and Kay Wahoff (husband Bob); James also leave behind aunts, uncles, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
