On Thursday, February 9th, 2023, John Alec Wilkerson, affectionately known as “Jack”, went to his Heavenly Home and was united with his Lord and Savior at the age of 92. Jack was born on March 20, 1930 in St. Louis, a son to the late John E. Wilkerson and Artie (Roy) Wilkerson, one of four children.
Jack accepted Christ at a young age and was a God-fearing Christian man who led a strong example to his family to serve Christ. Jack loved life, and spent it surrounded by the unconditional love of his family. Jack valued every moment they shared together. On August 14th, 1953, Jack was united in marriage to Norma Jane Eye, and they shared sixty-two years together and six children were born to this union. Jack, along with his wife Norma Jane, was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Potosi, where he served for many years as a Deacon. In past years, Jack also served as a Deacon at White Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his five daughters: Sylvia Rowe and husband Alan, Sandy Fitzwater and husband Paul, Jackie Shields and husband Matt, Mary Lou Brabham and husband Bart, and Carolyn Wilkerson; eighteen grandchildren: Nathan Rowe and wife Jaclyn, Carrie Missey and husband Matt, Jesse Rowe and wife Erika, Phoebe Davis and husband Kyle, Philip Fitzwater and wife Jessica, Katherine Cullins and husband Roger, Kelsey DeLuca and husband Andrew, Ethan Shields and wife Emily, Emily Ann Shields, Madeline Kent and husband Connor, Josh Brabham, Luke Brabham, John Wyatt Brabham, Elizabeth Hoffman Weir and husband Jake, Grace Belfield and husband Micah, Hannah Hoffman, Emma Hoffman, Jackson Melton and a host of great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and relatives.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Jane Wilkerson; son, Johnnie Wilkerson; three siblings: Wm. "Bill" Wilkerson, Alice Sago, and Joe Wilkerson; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Johnnie and Janie Eye; as well as many other family members.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 13th, 2023 from 5 to 8 PM at DeClue Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Potosi from 9 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 11 AM. Pastor Jim Ainley will be officiating, assisted by Rev. H. Wayne Isgriggs. Interment will follow at White Oak Grove Cemetery.
