Imogene Silvey Pittman, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to her Heavenly Home, and was united with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 30th, 2023 having reached the age of 90. Imogene was born in Potosi, Missouri, on August 20th, 1932, a daughter to the late Kelley Gladstone and Hazel Edna (Daugherty) Smith.
Imogene was a devoted Christian example who led her family to love and serve the Lord. Imogene was saved as a young girl and was a lifelong and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Potosi. In fact, Imogene was currently the longest member of the church. There she served as organist for sixty years.
On January 10th, 1951, Imogene was united in marriage to Norman Roy Silvey, and five children were born to this union. Together, Imogene and Norman took ownership and operated Silvey Feed and Supply in 1949 until retiring in 1990. Imogene served as secretary. Norman and Imogene shared forty-six years of life and love together. After Norman’s passing in 1997, Imogene later married Donald Pittman on December 27, 1998 and they shared nearly twenty wonderful years together until his passing in 2018.
Imogene loved to camp and travel, often taking her grandkids to Treasure Lake Resort in Branson. She was always on the go, or in her words "itchy feet". If she had a Diet Coke, Little Debbie cakes or Krispy Kreme (aka: “Krispy Kremies” to Imogene) she was a happy lady all day. Another joy of hers was going to McDonalds, getting a happy meal, then parking at either Karsch’s or Walmart to watch traffic. Imogene was a collector of stuffed animals. She loved her two fur babies: Freckles and Lulu. She enjoyed playing games with family, such as Dominoes. If you were around Imogene for any length of time, you would know that she was always looking for her purse. She always seemed to misplace it. Above all things that she enjoyed; her family was her greatest blessing. She especially adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Imogene lived a full life and was loved by many.
Those who remain to treasure her memory include her four children: Kelley (Kathy) Silvey, Roger Silvey, Marty (Robert) Avila, and Jennie (Gary) Miller; daughter-in-law, Barb (David) Albert; four step sons: Andy Pittman, Randy (Lisa) Pittman, Milo (Denise) Pittman, and Byron (Dawn) Pittman. She was “Grandma Gene” to fourteen grandchildren: Laura (Nathan) Hoff, Christina (Bob) Cornick, Andy (Billie) Silvey, Bobby (Kristen) Avila, Pamela (Nick) Elliott, Melissa Silvey, Kim (Gary) Greenlee, Jessica (Jim) Ainley, Cassie (Bryce) Nickelson, Jaclyn (Nathan) Rowe, David (Amy) Miller, Shannon (Eric) Hovis, Chad (Amber) Silvey, and Klint (Hannah) Silvey; thirty-two great grandchildren; many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sharon Silvey. Imogene also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and friends.
In addition to her father and mother, Imogene was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Silvey; second husband, Donald Pittman; dear son, John Steven Silvey; daughter-in-law, Donna Silvey; step son, Myron Pittman; her precious great granddaughter, Amelia Jade Hovis; brother, Kelley Gale Smith and wife, Pauline.
