Hugo Estis Doss of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on December 29, 2010 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of eighty seven years, three months and nine days. He was born on September 20, 1923 at Granite City, Illinois, a son to the late Dewy Doss and Katherine (Merritt) Doss.
Hugo was united in marriage to Alberta Volner on July 27, 1946. Through this sacred union, six children were born. Hugo was a member of the General Baptist Church of Potosi and was an Ordained Baptist minister. Hugo served in the United States Army from February 22, 1943 to July 46, 1944.
In addition to his parents, Hugo was preceded in death by his wife Alberta (Volner) Doss; grandson Darrell Doss; nephew Jimmy Lahmann; son in law Roger Skiles; four brothers in law Jackie Volner, Edward Volner, Bud Cooper and Leroy Volner and Carl Saunders.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are three sons Gary Doss and wife Yvonne of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dennis Doss and wife Janet of Waynesville, Missouri, Jerry Doss and wife Jessica of Steelville; three daughters Karen Skiles of Old Mines, Sandy Parker and husband Carl of St. Clair, Wilma Wideman and husband David of Park Hills; sister Delma McMahon of Potosi; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Carl Parker and Rev. Ardell Gray officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Glore, Jerret Richardson, David McCallum, Bo Thompson, Richard Shafer and Pat Smith.
Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
