Herman Woods

Herman C. Woods of Potosi, Missouri was born on January 15, 1930 in Shirley, Missouri, a son to the late Lawrence Woods and Florence (Cole) Woods. On December 2, 1955, Herman was united in marriage to Pearl F. Halbert and they shared sixty-one years together. Herman entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the age of eighty-eight.

Herman grew up in Shirley where he learned to farm and probably caused a little mischief from the stories he shared in his golden years. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Herman retired from Union Pacific Railroad in DeSoto. After retirement, he enjoyed cutting wood and working with his cattle. There was never a fence that he could not fix with duct tape and bailing twine. Herman enjoyed watching sports and was always up for a good debate about which team would win whatever championship was on the line. Herman will be greatly missed by his family.

Herman is survived by one son, Bruce (Kathy) Woods of Potosi; two grandchildren: John Woods and Tiffany Woods both of Potosi; one sister, Irma Lee Tedder of Desloge; special nephew Mike (Diane) McKinnley of Farmington; also surviving are other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father and mother, Herman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pearl on February 6, 2017; one brother, Truman (Joy) Woods; two brothers-in-law: Bob Tedder and Frank McKinnley.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 15, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the DeClue Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Richards officiating.

Interment and final prayers will be held in the Palmer Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the U.S. Air Force and Local VFW Post#6996. Funeral Arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
