Helen Dicus

July 14, 1910 — January 9, 2007

Helen Lorene Dicus of Potosi, Missouri, departed this life on January 9, 2007, having reached the age of 96 years, 5 months and 26 days. She was born on July 14, 1910 at White Oak, Missouri, a daughter of the late William Rundel and Cassandra (Laird) Rundel.

She was united in marriage to Willie Dicus on December 3, 1927 at Potosi, Missouri. Willie preceded her in death on March 14, 1973. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Helen enjoyed quilting, cooking (especially chicken and dumplings and pies), yard work, flowers and reading her Bible. Children were very special to her and she enjoyed sitting on her front porch visiting with family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma Lou Skaggs, four sisters, Edna Halter, Annie Rolens, Pearl Fea, Nina Sammons; three brothers, Earl Rundel, Edgar Rundel, Loren (Spud) Rundel and a daughter-in-law, Jean Dicus.

Helen loved the Lord. She was saved in 1938 and served him faithfully. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God and was the longest living member there.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her sons, Lawrence Dicus and wife Bonnie of Potosi, Wayne Dicus of Potosi; her daughter, Dorothy Pashia and husband Oscar (Bob) of Potosi; a son in-law, Jimmie Skaggs of Potosi; one sister, Opal Politte of Hillsboro; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; twelve great great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 PM on Friday January 12, 2007 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Roger Taber officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Zachary Lawson, Woody Lawson, Jr., Ron Mason, Jr., Ronnie Pashia, Billy Pashia, Bobby Pashia, Kevin Dicus and Kenny Dicus.

Interment and final prayers were held at Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
