Helen L. Akers of Belgrade, Missouri departed this life on January 18, 2013 at her residence having reached the age of seventy nine years, ten months and ten days. She was born on March 8, 1933 in Belgrade, Missouri a daughter to the late Elmer Gillam and Blanche (Jenkins) Gillam.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Akers; daughter Gayla Henry; brother Glenwood Gillam; sister Francis Akers; two step sons Ray Akers, David Akers; step grandson D.J. Akers; grandbaby Brandon Lands.
Helen was a member of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Belgrade.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are a daughter Pat Marshall of Potosi; three sons Joe Gollaher and wife Kathren of New Mexico; Kenneth Akers of Belgrade; Ricky Akers and wife Sherry of Belgrade; step son James Akers and wife Randy of Potosi; two step daughters in law Pat Akers of Potosi; Alice Akers of Potosi; brother Donnie Gillam and wife Judy of Belgrade; nineteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Chris Dicus, Austin Dicus, Eddie Gillam, Rick Govero, James Akers and Matthew Wilson.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
