Hazel Sampson

July 4, 1922 — August 14, 2006

Hazel Sampson of Blackwell, Missouri departed this life on August 14, 2006, at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 84 years, 1 month and 10 days. She was born at Tiff, Missouri, a daughter of the late Wesley Warden and Bertha (Pruitt) Warden.

Hazel was a member of the St. Stephen?s Catholic Church of Richwoods. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She loved to sew and make clothes for her family. She loved going down to ?Hazel?s? Park to spend time with all the campers there who were like an extended family to her. She loved to listen to music and she loved to dance. Her favorite Band was Tom Sampson and the Hoosier Daddy?s Band, of course. She was a great lady and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Thomas D. Sampson; three brothers, Fred Warden, Clarence Warden and Homer Warden; and a sister, Clara Benson.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her children, Bernice Boyer and husband Wilburn of Blackwell, Dorothy Pruitt and husband Walter of Blackwell, Mildred Martin and husband Ray of Richwoods, Ronald Sampson and wife Debbie of Hillsboro, Thomas Sampson and wife Becky of Desoto; two sisters, Gertrude Warden of Farmington, Marie Skiles of Tucson Arizona; a brother Paul Warden of Farmington; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; eleven great, great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 AM Thursday, August 17, 2006 at the St. Stephen?s Catholic Church, Richwoods, Missouri with Father Robert Liss officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Melvin Rhives, Tony Harmon, Mike Cross, Roy Logston, Darell Harrington, Boyd Pruitt.

Interment and final prayers were held at St. Stephen?s Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
