Hazel Louise Midgett of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on June 25, 2007 at her residence, having reached the age of 92 years, 10 months and 19 days. She was born on August 6, 1914 at Dillard, Missouri, a daughter of the late Joseph Bradford Turnbough and Maggie Elizabeth Yount Turnbough.
She was united in marriage to Marvin Edward Midgett on January 21, 1934 at Courtois, Missouri and three children were born to that union. Marvin preceded her in death on May 24, 1997. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a life long member of Adam Bethel Church. Over a span of 42 years she served many roles in the church, including Sunday school teacher and the church secretary and treasurer. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Hazel was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donald Potthast; a grandson, Jeff Phelps; five brothers, Ira Turnbough, Marvin Turnbough, Alva Turnbough, Louie Turnbough, Theodore Turnbough; and a sister Lola Adams.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her children, Carl Elwood Midgett and wife Doris of Belgrade, Nelda Phelps and husband Dwain of Bourbon, and Bonnie Potthast of Potosi; one brother, Norman Turnbough and wife Freda of Festus; two sisters, Alta Hill and husband Lloyd of Festus, Jean Brooks of Springfield, IL; ten grandchildren, Dwain Phelps, Jr., Keith Phelps and wife Vicki, Pam Loughary and husband Steve, Sally Phelps, Patti Maledy and husband Mark, Peter Midgett and wife Angie, Phillip Midgett and wife Kim, Nancy Massie and husband Bob, Paul Midgett and wife Mary Jo, Rebecca Potthast; granddaughter-in-law, Donna Phelps; twenty-four great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, June 28, 2007 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor David Hopkins and Rev. Myron Laramore officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Dwain Phelps Jr., Keith Phelps, Peter Midgett, Phillip Midgett, Paul Midgett, Jeffery Phelps and Steve Loughary.
Interment and final prayers were held at Antioch Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi, Missouri.
