Hattie Griggs

Hattie Irene Griggs of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on April 1, 2010 at the St. Anthony?s Medical Center having reached the age of seventy one years, two months and eleven days. She was born on January 21, 1939 at Belgrade, Missouri a daughter to the late John Stroup and Lora (Patterson) Stroup.

In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by her husband L.P. Griggs; two grandsons Mathew Griggs Rogers, Methis David Griggs Rogers; three brothers Willard Medley, John Medley, Kelly Stroup; two sisters Ruby Politte and Ellie Goodson.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are two daughters Brenda Mosier and husband Victor of Arnold; Linda Kurian and husband Manu of St. Louis; four sons David Griggs and wife Susanne of Potosi; Gary Griggs of Potosi; Donnie Griggs and wife Michelle of Potosi; Rick Griggs and wife Emily of Festus; two sisters Carnell Wade Buckley and husband Harold of Ironton; Rosemary Aubuchon and husband Jim of Caledonia; two brothers Fred Stroup of Potosi; Paul Stroup and wife Joyce of Potosi; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 2 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. David Godat officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Roger Griggs, Robbie Askins, Jr., Cole Griggs, Malachi Griggs, Ryan Guenzler, David Griggs and Dwayne Griggs. Honorary pallbearer Adam Rough.

Interment and final prayers were held at Lost Creek Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
