Harold E. Turner of Belgrade, Missouri, entered into rest on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital having reached the age of eighty four years, five months and twenty two days. He was born on March 19, 1931 in Belgrade, Missouri, a son to the late Merlyn E. Turner and Hazel Olive (Walton) Turner.
On December 30, 1956, Harold was united in marriage to Carol Wilkinson at the Belgrade United Methodist Church and they shared fifty eight years together.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife Carol Turner of Belgrade; son Jonathan Turner and wife Mary Ann of Belgrade; Cathy Heisel and husband Larry of Belgrade; six siblings: Jerry Turner and wife Margaret "Skippy" of Belleville, Ill., Wilma Jarvis and husband Rev. Donald of Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Kirby Turner and wife Jo Ann of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Joe Turner and wife Sue of Desloge, Missouri, Margaret Bullock and husband Rev. Bob of Farmington, Missouri, Donald Turner and wife Mollie of Farmington, Missouri; four grandchildren Julie Loughary and husband Cody of Belgrade, Jeremy Heisel and wife Amy of Belgrade, Matthew Turner and wife Jennifer of Belgrade, Andrew Turner of Belgrade; five great grandchildren Carson, Carlie, Adalynn, Briley and Laurie Ann.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Roger Bilderback, Niece Jo Ella Turner Huwer and nephew Byron Turner.
In 1955, Harold began working at Belgrade State Bank, becoming manager in 1959 and president/CEO in 1982. Harold has a long history of professional and personal service to the local community, state and nation.
In addition to Belgrade State Bank, some of the boards he served on are: U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Belgrade United Methodist Church, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Chamber of Commerce, Black River Electric Cooperative, Pension Board of the United Methodist Church, Central Methodist College, Midland Bank, Meramec Basin Association, Gambrill Gardens, Washington County IDA, Nebraska Banker’s Bank, Mid-west Independent Bank, MAC Foundation Board, Belgrade Lions Club and Washington County Library. Mr. Turner said his success in life has been greatly influenced by his strong faith in God and the importance of honesty.
Harold was a lifelong active member of the Belgrade United Methodist Church.
Visitation for Harold was held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 3:00 till 8:00 pm at the Belgrade United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials shall be made in memory of Harold to the Belgrade United Methodist Church Building Fund.
A private funeral service was held for Mr. Turner's family on Monday, September 14, 2015.
Honoring Harold by serving as pallbearers were Jonathan Turner, Larry Heisel, Jeremy Heisel, Matthew Turner, Andrew Turner, Cody Loughary and Carson Loughary.
Private interment was held at the Belgrade United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements were respectfully entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
