Harold Gillam

April 10, 1931 — November 19, 2009

Harold Larry Gillam, Sr. of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on November 19, 2009 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of seventy eight years, seven months and nine days. He was born April 10, 1931 at Quaker, Missouri a son to the late Ellis Gillam and Delphia (Watts) Gillam.

Harold served in the United States Army from 1952 ? 1954.

On January 5, 1953, Harold was united in marriage to Betty King and they shared fifty six years together.

Harold was a member of the Grassy Hollow Baptist Church and a member of the VFW #4751.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by three sisters Goldie Sumpter, Maxine McCarron, Jewel Black and a sister in law Dolly Coleman.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Betty Gillam of Potosi; daughter Pam Crowe of Potosi; son Harold Gillam, Jr. of St. Charles; brother Eugene Gillam and wife Carrol of Elvins; five grandchildren Kristi Neumann, Jill Visconti, Mandy Baker, Katy Crowe, Patty Carey; nine great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 1 PM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Wendell Nipper officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Kenny Gillam, Danny Hill, Rodney McCarron, John McCarron, Brad Underwood, Juan Mercado, Jim Wilkerson and Michael Gillam.

Interment and final prayers were held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
