Harley Benice Pettit of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on January 31, 2007 at Des Peres Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, after reaching the age of eighty four years and sixteen days. He was born on January 15, 1923 at Dresden, TN, a son of the late George Columbus Pettit and Susan Etta (Reed) Pettit.
In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Edna Grenia Pettit; his twin, Charles Pettit and another brother, George Pettit. He was a member of the Potosi Southern Baptist Church of Potosi.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his special friend, Norma Belfield of Potosi; a step son, Donald Dudley of Caledonia; his adopted family, Pam Hampton and family, Chuck and Robin Belfield and family; four special nephews, Charles Pettit and wife Linda, John Pettit and wife Hazel, Bob Pettit and Donald Pettit; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 11 AM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. John Edwards officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Wezzer Hampton, Chuckie Hampton, Tim Allen, Brian Seaton, Jordan Belfield and Micah Belfield.
Interment and final prayers were held at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
