Goldie Mae Maxine Thompson, born on September 13, 1940, in Blackwell, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the age of 84. She was a bright light in the lives of many, loved for her joyful spirit and unwavering faith. Goldie was known for being a devoted Christian woman, always prioritizing her family and friends above herself. Her warm smile and kind words brought comfort to those around her.
Throughout her life, Goldie exemplified hard work and perseverance. Growing up with limited resources, she learned early on the value of dedication. As a mother, she provided lovingly for her three children whom she is survived by: Marsha Putney and her husband Richard, Ricky King and his wife Debbie, and Denise Wisdom and her husband Paul. Goldie took immense pride in her role as a mother and was also a proud grandma to eleven grandchildren: Cory Hodges and his wife Allie, Nathan Trokey, Shane Trokey, Sheena Hoff, Kyleigh Wisdom, Brock King and his wife Maegan, Aaron King and his wife Christina, Cody King and his wife Sarah, Jordan Wisdom, Garan Beard, and Becky Ozbun and her husband Michael; many wonderful great-grandchildren; her sister Mamie Cain, special family friend Naomi Tucker, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her father and mother, Goldie was preceded in death by her first husband, Danny Lee King; her second husband, Don Thompson; her son-in-law, Eddie Hodges; and her brother-in-law, Billy Joe Cain.
Goldie was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ in Potosi, where she actively served others. Her love for her church community was evident in everything she did. She found joy in gardening, especially tending to her beautiful rose bushes.
Goldie's visitation will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at DeClue Funeral Home located at 301 E High Street, Potosi, MO 63664. Interment and final prayers will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Goldie will be remembered for her incredible spirit, dedication to family, and generous heart. She has gone to her Heavenly Home, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness. Funeral arrangements were tenderly cared for by DeClue Funeral Home.
