Glenwood Eaves

February 26, 1925 — October 14, 2009

Glenwood ?Ground Hog? Eaves of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on October 14, 2009 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of eighty four years, seven months and eighteen days. He was born on February 26, 1925 at Mineral Point, Missouri a son to the late Rev. Martin D. Eaves and Myrtle B. (Jones) Eaves.

Glenwood served in the United States Army from July 9, 1943 until February 9, 1946. Some of the awards he received were the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star; American theatre Campaign Ribbon; Victory Ribbon and three Overseas Bars.

On May 14, 1947, Glenwood was united in marriage to Zella Mae Wiggins and they shared sixty two years together.

Glenwood was a simple man with many hobbies. During the spring time he would be the first one in the neighborhood to know if the mushrooms where out because he always had the first batch. During the summer he could be found fishing, cutting wood, and building hot fires in his home to keep Zella warm. He would settle down in the yard on a long summer evening under the shade tree and neighbors and friends would stop in to visit. People loved Glenwood because of his amazing tall tales he told about his adventures over the years. Glenwood had scars from where he had been bit many times by poisonous snakes and survived. He had a passion for collecting things that where of value to him and Paul. But, the rest of family called the collection junk. But most of all Glenwood loved being outdoors and he enjoyed his life. Glenwood will be remembered as a legacy on AA Highway.

In addition to his parents, Glenwood was preceded in death by a son Donald Eaves; brother Rev. Martin Eaves and a sister Arlene Anderson.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life are his wife Zella Mae Eaves of Potosi; two sons Edward Eaves of Raymondville, Missouri; Paul Eaves of Potosi; four daughters Glenda Thompson and husband Larry of Cadet; Barb Heflin and husband Ed of Raymondville, Missouri; Myrtle Brown of Houston, Missouri; Janice Golden and husband Robert of Potosi; two brothers Henery Eaves and wife Dorothy of Hopewell; Charles Eaves and wife Sue of Potosi; three sisters Adaline Wright of Pevely; Eveline Henson of Hillsboro; Elizabeth Crim of Independence; twelve grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
