Glenda Bernell Dennis of Belgrade, Missouri departed this life on August 24, 2006 at Georgian Gardens Nursing Home in Potosi, Missouri, having reached the age of 77 years and 9 days. She was born on August 15, 1929 at Belgrade, Missouri, a daughter of the late Herbert Phelps and Florence Jinkerson Phelps.
She was united in marriage to John W. Dennis at Potosi, Missouri, and to this union three children were born. John preceded Bernell in death. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a long time member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Belgrade. She retired from Valley R-6 Elementary School where she worked for many years as a cook.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bernell was preceded in death by a daughter, Kevin Jill Maxwell; her step-mother, Clara Midgett Phelps; two nieces, Kathy Censky and Norma Perrin; a nephew Jeff Phelps; two sisters-in law, Dorothy Terrell and Mary Phelps and her aunt Jeanne Dennis.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her two sons, Danny Joe Dennis and wife Paula of Belgrade, Rod Dennis and wife Gail of Belgrade; son-in-law, Tracy Maxwell and wife Shelly of Caledonia; two brothers, Glenwood ?Pete? Phelps of Caledonia, Dwain Phelps and wife Nelda of Bourbon; step sisters, Beulah Hampton of Park Hills, Eula Abney and husband John of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Scott Dennis and wife Mandy, Ryan Maxwell and wife Candace, Adam Maxwell; three great grandchildren, Justin Dennis, Bradley Dennis and Colby Maxwell; five sisters-in-law, Ila Gollaher and husband Edward of Indianapolis, Vivian Censky and husband Edward of St. Louis, Bertha Lou Akers and husband Lindell of Belgrade, Jessie Jarvis and husband Stanley of Belgrade, Phyllis McGuire and husband George of Farmington; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, August 27, 2006, at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel in Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Harry White and Rev. Myron Laramore officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Scott Dennis, Ryan Maxwell, Adam Maxwell, Dwain Phelps, Keith Phelps, Mark Akers and Kim Akers. Honorary pallbearer was Justin Dennis.
Interment and final prayers were held at Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Belgrade. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
