Gilbert Stephens

August 15, 1918 — July 15, 2006

Gilbert H. Stephens of Caledonia, Missouri departed this life on July 15, 2006 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, having reached the age of 87 years and 11 months. He was born in Elvins, Missouri on August 15, 1918, a son of the late Gilbert Grant Stephens and Effie Florence (Short) Stephens.

On July 13, 1940 in Elvins, Missouri, Gilbert married Evelyn Montgomery. They shared over sixty six years of marriage together. Gilbert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He belonged to the Elvin?s Christian Church; a lifetime member of the Belgrade Lion?s Club; and a member of the Veteran?s of Foreign Wars organization.

In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by a son, Michael Stephens; two brothers, Jerrel Stephens and Alfred Stephens; and a sister, Hilda Hoehns.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life are his wife Evelyn (Montgomery) Stephens, sons Dennie Stephens and wife Brenda of Seminole. FL, Gary Stephens and wife Jean of Fenton, Dick Stephens and wife Alicia of House Springs; brother Vernon Stephens and wife Violet of Bismarck; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Tisha Mundy officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Randy Stephens, Darren Stephens, Justin Stephens, Michael Herrmann, Joseph Yount and Jason M. Stephens.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia. All arrangements were entrusted to the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
