Gertrude Stephens

Evelyn Stephens of Caledonia, Missouri, departed this life on January 19, 2007 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home having reached the age of 85 years, 10 months and 11 days. She was born in Caledonia, Missouri on March 8, 1921, a daughter of the late Richard Emmett Montgomery and Era (Shelton) Montgomery.

On July 13, 1940, Evelyn was united in marriage to Gilbert H. Stephens. They shared over sixty-six years of marriage before Gilbert preceded her in death on July 15, 2006. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being with her family and her friends. She was a long-time member of the Elvins Christian Church and will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her sons, Dennie Stephens and wife Brenda of Seminole, FL, Gary Stephens and wife Jean of Fenton, Dick Stephens and wife Alicia of House Springs; her brother Ralph Montgomery of Park Hills; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Tisha Mundy officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Justin, Stephens, Jill Stephens, Randy Stephens, Jason Stephens, Michael Herrmann and Tamera Herrmann.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
