Geraldine Warden

Geraldine Olive Warden of Ironton, Missouri departed this life on May 3, 2012 at The Baptist Home having reached the age of eighty six years and six months. She was born on November 3, 1925 in Shirley, Missouri a daughter to the late Charles Mercer and Mildred (Sparks) Mercer.

Geraldine was a member of the Ozark Heights Baptist Church. There she served for ten years as the WMA President, Sunday School Teacher, Sunshine Lady and served at one time as assistant treasurer. She received Christ as her savior as a child at Bunker Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband John Howard "Buck" Warden; two brothers Alvin Mercer, Don Mercer; sister Doris Mercer; two daughters Rhonda Warden, Elva Vandergriff; son Robert Warden; two grandsons Kerry Warden, Michael Warden and a great granddaughter Lacey Clapp.

Those who remain to mourn her passing are two sons Larry Warden of Gallatin, Tennessee; Virgil (Sheila) Warden of O'Fallon; daughter Linda (Lloyd) Fenstermaker of Potosi; son in law Clyde Vandergriff of Mineral Point; daughter in law Gloria Warden of Irondale; three brothers Dale (Mary Lou) Mercer of Cape Girardeau; Wayne (Pat) Mercer of Jackson; Merlin (Doris) Mercer of Cape Girardeau; two sisters Patricia Baxter of Yuma, Arizona; Sandra Sue (David ) Donley of Cape Girardeau; thirteen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; twenty three great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Rev. Brian Meade officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Bobby Warden, Brian Warden, Damon Warden, Phillip Warden, Nicholas Warden, David Groff, Jamie Stinson and Matthew Vandergriff.

Interment and final prayers were held at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
