Georgia Armeda Woodring of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on May 17, 2006 at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of 77 years, 7 months and 9 days. She was born on October 9, 1928 in Highland Park, Michigan, a daughter of the late Theodore A. Mapes and Alice E. (Hudson) Mapes.
Armeda, as she was known to all, was a teacher at Potosi Elementary School for many years. She was a member of the Potosi Methodist Church and the Missouri Retired Teachers Association. She loved children and she was devoted to helping them achieve a better life through education.
In addition to her parents, Armeda was preceded in death by a brother, Theodore Mapes, Jr. and a sister, Elizabeth Battreal.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include one son, Jim Woodring and wife Jeannie of Cocoa, Florida; a brother, George Mapes and wife Julie of Potosi; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Mapes of Festus; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces; nephews; cousins; many other relatives and friends and countless past students who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Roy Logden, Mike Mapes, Alan Rowe, Logan Merrill, Jason Woodring, Rodney Hawkins and Justin Gillam.
Interment and final prayers were held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
