George Saunders

George Edward Saunders of Old Mines, Missouri, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family who loved him so much. He was born on April 1, 1943, in Old Mines, Missouri, a son to the late Ralph Roland Saunders and the late Mary Helen (Boyer) Saunders.
On October 24, 1968, George was united in marriage to Shelia Wallen and they shared forty eight years together.
George is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shelia Saunders of Old Mines; four sons: Brian Saunders and wife Melinda of Potosi, Steve Saunders and fiancé Vickie Thomas of Sunset Hills, Mo., George Saunders Jr. and wife Mary of Moberly, Mo., Melvin Saunders; three daughters: Sarah Volner and husband Jared of Ellenton, Florida, Heather Mason and husband Taco of Potosi and Tammy Hochsatter and husband David of Potosi; brother Larry Saunders of Cadet; three sisters: Joyce Goodson and husband Ervin of Hopewell, Cecilia Slatton of Potosi and LaVern Miller of Cadet; sixteen grandchildren: Thaylor Nickelson and husband Chad, Baylee Saunders, Carson Saunders, Madisson Volner, Devon Volner, Leighton Volner, Karlee Mason, Emilee Mason, Miranda Saunders, Cory Saunders, Jeremy Saunders, Dustin Saunders, Megan Saunders, Teagan Dankenbring, Avri Dankenbring and Leyton Dankenbring; seven great grandchildren Landon, Cory, Hunter, Gabrial, Israel, Kyla and Paige; also surviving are many other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three brothers: Carl Saunders, Marvin Saunders, Paul Saunders; three sisters: Mary Alice Binniki, Veronica Hanson and Audrey McCoy one great grandson William Saunders.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 pm and Monday, August 15, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 am at the DeClue Funeral Home, Potosi.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:00 am held at the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ronnie Rothlisburger and Bro. Brad Barton officiating assisted by Bro. Derrick Meek and Bro. Jim Ainley.
Interment and final prayers will be held at the Sunset Hills Cemetery, Potosi, Mo. Honoring George by serving as pallbearers were Brian Saunders, Steve Saunders, Jared Volner, George Saunders Jr., Taco Mason and David Hochstatter. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were Dustin Saunders, Cory Saunders, Jeremy Saunders, Chad Nickelson, Carson Saunders, Devon Volner and Leyton Dankenbring.
DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the funeral arrangements of George during this time of remembrance.
