Gary Gibson

August 3, 1948 — May 25, 2012

Gary Eugene Gibson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on May 25, 2012 at his residence having reached the age of sixty three years, nine months and twenty two days. He was born on August 3, 1948 in Pueblo, Colorado a son to Mary Adeline (Fitzwater) Gibson and the late Glenn Gibson.

Gary was saved by our Lord in 1960 at Temple Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colorado. He was a Cowboy, Rancher and worked at McDonald Douglas for several years before moving to Potosi in 2003. His great, great great grandfather Robert Gibson moved to Potosi in 1836 and started the White Oak Grove Baptist Church in 1842. The family is all buried at White Oak Grove Cemetery, except his father Glenn Gibson who was buried in Pueblo, Colorado.

Gary enjoyed his life. The last five years he built his own cabin, which was something he has wanted all his life.

Going to be with his Lord and Savior was by far the best day of Gary's life.

Those who remain to mourn his passing is the love of his life for forty eight years Sharon (Basgal) Gibson of Potosi; mother Addie Gibson; two sisters Glenda Lee Wright and husband Burton; Sharon Avis Gibson; son Gary Eugene Gibson, Jr. and wife Shonna; two daughters Shelley Ann Rizzo and husband Anthony; Laura Elaine Cornn and husband Paul; sisters in law Virginia Cannon, Frances Stamps, Mary Ann Polish and husband Benny; Joyce Tate and husband Bill; brother in law Raymond Basgal; five grandchildren Shylo Gibson, Tristen Gibson, Vincent Rizzo, Camille Rizzo, Erin Cornn; two uncles Lloyd Fitzwater, Winifred Gibson; aunt Judy Riess; first cousin Ace Eye and wife Lisa; Lois Swierk and husband Roger; special friends Sam Eye and wife Sara; John Eye and wife Catherine; Dave Dixon and wife Tabatha; favorite niece Peggy Jacob; many other nieces and nephews; relatives and friends that will sadly miss him.

A memorial service was held on May 29, 2012 at 7 PM at DeClue Funeral Home with Dave Dixon officiating.

All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
