Freddie Solon Vance Sr. of Potosi, Missouri, departed this life on September 19, 2005, at the age of 82 Years, 3 Months and 27 Days. He was born on May 23, 1923 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Elijah Solon Vance and Clora May (Johnston) Vance.

Freddie was united in Marriage to Bertha Nettles on October 5, 1942 and eleven Children were born to this union. He was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ and enjoyed playing his harmonica and playing checkers.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Betty Cain, one son Freddie Vance Jr., two brothers John Edward Vance and Harry Vance and six sisters Beulah Skiles, Julia Skiles, Maudie Wilson, Ida Rolens, Jessie Wilkerson and Sarah Lawson.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Bertha Vance of Mineral Point, four daughters Tammy Vance and husband Arnold of Mineral Point, Ruby Vance of Mineral Point, Ginny Bryers and husband Larry of Van Buren, Bonnie Valley of Mineral Point, five sons John Vance of Pensacola, FL, Perry Vance and wife Anna of Lonedell, Daniel Vance of Mineral Point, Allen Vance and wife Bonnie of Cadet, Ronnie Vance and wife Cindy of Mineral Point; one sister Cecilia Mason of Cadet, 33 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild..

Funeral services were conducted at 10 AM on Friday, September 23, 2005, at the Britton Chapel, with Rev. Roy John Emily Officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Anthony Vance, Clifford Vance, Darrell Vance, Cody Vance, Justin Vance and Scott Hartman.

Interment in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, with all arrangements entrusted in the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
