Franklin Merritt

July 6, 1939 — May 9, 2010

Franklin Donald Merritt of Potosi, formerly of Caledonia, Missouri departed this life on May 9, 2010 at the Georgian Gardens Nursing Home having reached the age of seventy years, ten months and three days. He was born on July 6, 1939 at Courtois, Missouri a son to the late Lewis Merritt and Nellie (Beers) Merritt.

Frankie enjoyed many things. He loved his music, eating, football, baseball, his soda and his cigarettes. He loved Christmas and his birthday when all the family came and got him what he wanted. He loved for the family to buy him hamburgers, fries and a soda.

In addition to his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by seven brothers Jimmy Merritt, Johney Merritt, Jack Merritt, Bobby Merritt, Junior Merritt, Glen Merritt and Bill Merritt; two sister-laws Doris Merritt and Bernice Merritt; two brother-in-laws Vince Link, and Jerry Hicks.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are two brothers Kenneth Merritt and wife Wauneda of St. Louis; Jerry Merritt and wife Mary of Belgrade; three sisters Hattie Hicks of St. Louis, Shirley Link of St. Louis, Sharon Lawson and husband Floyd of Irondale; three sisters-in law Verna Merritt, Evelyn Merritt, and Mary Ann Merritt; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 11AM at the DeClue Family Chapel with Elder Leonard Compton and Rev. Brian Meade officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Ed Blair, Tommy Merritt, Chris Lawson, Rick Hicks, Junior Paul, and Ralph Haar.

Interment and final prayers were held at Abbott Cemetery, Goodwater, Missouri. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
