Francis Gerald Nickelson, also lovingly known as “Pete”, of Potosi, Missouri, was born on March 5, 1937 in Tiff, Missouri, a son of the late Carl and Virgie (White) Nickelson. Pete passed away on March 3, 2023, having reached the age of 85.
Those who remain to cherish his memory include his five daughters: Carrie Nickelson and Jack Asbridge, Deborah Hill, Kathy Albert (husband, David Jr.), Shelia Bunch (husband, Allen), and Rhonda Skiles (husband, Brian); grandchildren: Nicole Litton, Ryan Litton, Cameron Litton, Amanda Hill, Lance Hill, Austin Albert (wife, Courtney), Colin Albert and Kalie Stout, Amber Vaughn (husband, Scott), Aric Austin (wife, Anca), Avery Austin, Joseph Nickelson (wife, Chala), Kota Garrett (husband, Roper), Kensie Prochnow (husband, Harley), Jeremy Nickelson, and Hunter Skiles (wife, Lilly); great grandchildren: Alize, Joslyn, Kamijae, Beau, Amondre, Amoniea, Amearie, Amajalea, Amontae, Amezaryah, Ameilia, Maisen, Quenton, Keirrah, Michael, Evany, Lyla, Mayzie, Madilyn, Ava, Ahrionna, Karaline, Nollyn, Bruce, Jasper, Rosalee, Ophelia, Joseph, and Titus; siblings: Bobby Nickelson (wife, Jan), Debbie Hinton, Curtis Nickelson (wife, Cheryl), Marty Nickelson, and Kelly Nickelson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Tommy and Connie Burt. Pete is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Ruth “Gigi” Nickelson; siblings: Lindell Nickelson, Donnie Nickelson, Virgie Gabrhel, Stanley Nickelson; son-in-law, Charles Hill; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bob and Bernice Burt.
Pete was an avid gardener, and would always pull his girls in to help him. He considered himself to be an unofficial personal trainer at the gym. He enjoyed visiting with his family, especially having breakfast at the Berryman store, and was a fan of the Sayers Senior Center, visiting with friends there. He will be missed greatly by all of his family.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 12 pm until the time of his service at 2 pm, at the DeClue Memorial Chapel, 301 E High St, Potosi, Missouri.
