Forest Meril Fitzgerald of Desoto, Missouri, passed away June 24, 2006 at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of 83 years, 1 month and 9 days. He was born on May 15, 1923 at Eminence, Missouri a son of the late Arthur Fitzgerald and Pearl Brown Fitzgerald.
In addition to his parent he was preceded in death by five brothers Orel, Oscar, Othel, Forbes and Leslie Fitzgerald and five sisters Ora Smith, Evelyn Lewis, Pauline Neibar, Ruth Siddens and Doris Miller.
Forest was united in marriage to Laura Hill on May 3, 1946 at Des Moines, Iowa. They were able to enjoy just over 60 years of marriage together. He was proud to have served his country in World War II in the United States Army and was a member of the Teamster Local 688.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are His wife Laura Fitzgerald of Desoto, a step-daughter June Casteel of Pevely, one sister Nadine Bunton of Bridgeton, 5 step-grandchildren, 4 step great grand children and one step great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him .
Funeral services were conducted at10 AM Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Britton Chapel, with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Jones, Rodney Beel, Lloyd Gaston, Sr., Lloyd Gaston, Jr., Glenn Hill and Harvey Price.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, under the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
