Floyd Lee Rowe of Potosi, Missouri was born October 23, 1924 in Ebo, Missouri a son of the late Jesse Rowe and Carrie (Lyons) Rowe. Floyd departed this life on Sunday, October 5, 2008 at the age of eighty-three years and eleven months and twelve days.
Floyd was united in marriage to the late Blanche Montgomery on June 1, 1947 at the Church of God in Esther, Missouri. Floyd and Blanche were blessed with fifty-four years of marriage and five children.
Floyd is survived by five children, Reggie Rowe and wife Dee of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Alan Rowe and wife Sylvia of Potosi, Missouri; Elaine Breier and husband Gaarie of Indian Rocks Beach, Florida; Jeff Rowe and wife Vicky of Temple Terrace, Florida; John Rowe and wife Juliann of Madison, Alabama; ten grandchildren, Nathan Rowe and wife Jaclyn of Potosi; Cara Breier of Atlanta, Georgia; Carrie Missey and husband Matt of Potosi; Stuart Rowe and wife Shelby of Montgomery, Alabama; Jesse Rowe of Potosi, Missouri; Elliot Rowe of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Amanda Rowe of Madison, Alabama; Ashley Rowe of Temple Terrace, Florida; Samuel Rowe of Temple Terrace, Florida; and Zachary Rowe of Madison, Alabama and one great-grandson Peyton Rowe.
Floyd had two brothers and two sisters, Ed Rowe and wife Glenda of Potosi, Missouri; the late Tom Rowe and wife Tommie of Potosi, Missouri; Rose Ellen Jones and the late Robert Jones of Potosi, Missouri; Norma Dale Shadrach and husband Paul of Hazelwood, Missouri.
Floyd faithfully served his country during World War II as a United States Marine. He and his brother Tom owned and operated Rowe Brothers Firestone for twenty-seven years. He was a member of the Potosi United Methodist Church and the Potosi Masonic Lodge. Floyd was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the natural beauty of Washington County. He also was a loyal sports fan of the St Louis Cardinals. Most of all, Floyd had a great love for his family and each held a very dear and special place in his heart.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 11 AM at the Potosi United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bruce Pittman officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Nathan Rowe, Jesse Rowe, Samual Rowe, Elliot Rowe, Paul Fitzwater, Philip Fitzwater, Matt Missey and Zach Rowe.
Interment and final prayers were held at the New Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
