Floyd Lawson of Potosi, Missouri was born on October 3, 1942 in Potosi, a son to the late Earl Lawson and the late Gurlean (Bowles) Lawson. On April 25, 1964, Floyd was united in marriage to Sharon K. Merritt at the Ozark Heights Missionary Baptist Church and they shared nearly fifty-three years together.
Floyd entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 9, 2017 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of seventy-four years, five months and five days.
Floyd will be missed by all those who loved and knew him including his wife, Sharon Lawson of Potosi; one son, Chris Lawson of Potosi; two daughters: Tammy Blair of Farmington; Michelle Vickers and husband Chase of Mount Vernon Illinois; six grandchildren: Philip Lawson, Emily Lawson, Lacey Blair, Cierra Alley, Daven Alley and Canden Vickers; two great grandchildren: Logan and Blake Lawson; three brothers: Lloyd Lawson and wife Connie of Potosi; Terry Lawson and wife Patti of Potosi; Danny Lawson of Mineral Point; sister-in-law, Doris Lawson of Old Mines; special friend, Linda Smith of St. Louis; also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his step father, Raymond Robinson; step mother, Florence Lawson; brother, Earl “Gene” Lawson; step sister, Carolyn Mallow; step brother, Charles Robinson.
Visitation was held at the DeClue Funeral Home on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. and on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 9-11 a.m.
A Funeral Service was held at the DeClue Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Elder Leonard Compton officiating assisted by Rev. Harvey Buckley and Rev. Joseph “Bud” Lawson. Musical selections were provided by Jane Lawson and Verna Williford.
Interment and final prayer will be held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the funeral arrangements for Floyd during this time of remembrance.
