Floyd Edward Carter of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on October 4, 2006 at his residence, having reached the age of 74 years, 2 months and 28 days. He was born on July 6, 1932 at Potosi, a son of the late George F. Carter and Ollie H. (Morgan) Carter.
He was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Wilkerson on April 9, 1954 at Potosi, Missouri and to this union four children were born. Mary Catherine preceded him in death on October 27, 1996. Floyd was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents and wife, Floyd was preceded in death by a son, Francis Ray Carter; three brothers, Tom Carter, David Carter, Raymond Carter; four sisters, Mabel Marler, Josephine Caroline, Dorothy Carter, Maggie Branaugh; and a granddaughter, Sarah Jane Akers.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his two sons, Daniel Carter and wife Vicki of Potosi, Harold Carter of Park Hills; his daughter, Jackie Warden and husband Randy of Potosi; a brother, William Carter of San Angelo, Texas; daughter-in-law, Tina Carter of Potosi; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jason Carter, Bruce Carter, Eddie Carter, Daniel Warden, Rodney England and Jimmy Bergner.
Interment and final prayers were held at Palmer Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
