Evelyn Allen

January 19, 1922 — April 11, 2008

Evelyn Louise Allen of Potosi, Missouri, departed this life on April 11, 2008 at Washington County Memorial Hospital, having reached the age of eighty six years, two months and twenty-three days. She was born on January 19, 1922 at Belgrade, Missouri, a daughter of the late Clyde E. Belfield and Gertrude Eva (White) Belfield.

On February 3, 1940 she was united in marriage to Russell Lester Allen at Steelville, Missouri and two sons were born to this union, Russell preceded her in death on May 12, 1999. Evelyn knew the Lord as her Savior and was oldest living member of the Mission Ridge Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, a dear sister aunt, cousin and friend.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Ruby Allen; two brothers, Floyd Belfield and Melvin Belfield; and a sister, Audrey Lahmann.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include two sons, Wendell Allen of Potosi, Jack Allen and wife, Sharon of Potosi; one brother Alvin Belfield and wife Verna of Mineral Point; one sister Pauline Portell of Lebanon, IN; one brother in-law Ralph Allen of Hillsboro; two sisters in?law Viola Allen of Hillsboro and Margaret Trokey of Fulton; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Mike Jarvis and Rev. Melvin Reed officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Keith Carolyn, Chris Reed, Andy Politte, Chris Bowen, Dennis Allen and Randy Portell.

Interment and final prayers were held at High Point Cemetery, Potosi. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
