Esther Mitchell

November 28, 1920 — July 15, 2008

Esther Rose Mitchell of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on July 15, 2008 at Potosi Manor Nursing Home, having reached the age of eighty seven years, seven months and seventeen days. She was born at Potosi, Missouri on November 28, 1920, a daughter of the late James Frank Farrel and Esther (Heiner) Farrel.

On February 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to William Albert Mitchell in the St. James Rectory. Mr. Mitchell preceded her in death on June 10, 1970.

In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, Newton, Floyd and Robert Farrel.

She was a member of the Mine Breton Historical Society; Ladies Sodality, the St. James Catholic Church, LesBelle Femmes, EnAvant Society and the Ruth?s Workbasket Extension Club. She loved to travel all over the United States, but always felt Missouri was the most beautiful because of the variety, she loved the fall leaves and the night sky. Esther was always ready to go somewhere at a moment?s notice, loved gourmet restaurants, the St. Louis Symphony and playing cards with good friends. She enjoyed her job as a librarian especially being the ?Bookmobile Lady? taking books all over the county to her readers, young and old. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother; a dear aunt, cousin and friend.

Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her son, Jim Mitchell and fianc?, Andi Yost of Desloge; two daughters, Kathy Borgmeyer and husband, Robert of Wellsville and Alberta Arndt and husband, Darrell of Potosi; six grandchildren, Rick Borgmeyer and wife, Tina, Krista Borgmeyer and fianc?, Damien, Jeremy Morgan and fianc?, Christine, Josh Morgan and wife, Tiffany, Trevor Mitchell, Amanda Pogue and husband, Adam; eight great grandchildren, Brooke, Paige, Chase, Madison, William, Tanner, Taylor and baby Ashton; four step grandchildren, Kim, Laurie, Amy and Aaron; eight step great grandchildren; one step great-great grandchild; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri, with Father Joe Welschmeyer officiating. Serving as pallbearers were

Interment and final prayers were held at Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
