Essie Faye Skaggs of Cadet, Missouri departed this life on January 11, 2007 at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center having reached the age of 85 years, 8 months and 9 days. She was born at Salem Missouri on May 2, 1921, a daughter of the late William Isaac Hedrick and Frances Blanche (Counts) Hedrick.
She was united in marriage to Huey E. Skaggs on September 3, 1938 at Potosi, Missouri. Mr. Skaggs preceded her in death on September 19, 1994. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents and husband, Faye was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Bernice Skaggs; a son, Clarence Eugene Skaggs; a daughter-in-law, Mary Skaggs; two sisters, Betty Johnson and Gloraine Hedrick; five brothers, Ivan Hedrick, William Hedrick, Albert Hedrick, Monroe Pete Hedrick and Willard Perry Hedrick.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her daughters, Hazel Skaggs of Potosi, Kathy Virginia Eckhoff and husband Jerry of Mineral Point; one son, Cecil Skaggs and wife Ginny of St. Clair; a daughter-in-law, Regina Skaggs of Cadet; a brother, Lawrence Hedrick of Cadet; a sister, Lucy Bourbon of Potosi; five grandchildren, Jackie Johnston, Eric Skaggs, Heather Eckhoff, C. J. Skaggs, Crystal Huskey and husband Robert; eight great grandchildren, Katie Johnston, Lacey Boyer, Christopher Roux, Paige Roux, Bryer Skaggs, Cameron Huskey, Caleb Huskey, Chloe Huskey; one great-great-grandchild, Layne Miller; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 2 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jerry West, Shane Self, Mitch Bourbon, Jamie Mayberry, Dennis Skaggs and Jim Eckhoff.
Interment and final prayers were held at Blackwell Masonic Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
