Elwin Fryman

July 11, 1934 — November 29, 2016

Elwin Earl Fryman was born on July 11, 1934 in Ottery Creek now known as Belleview, Missouri, the second son to the late Samuel Lee Fryman and the late Beulah Frances (Black) Fryman. Elwin was united in marriage to Mildred Jinkerson on September 8, 1962 and they shared fifty five years together.

Elwin entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital having reached the age of eighty two years, four months and eighteen days.

Elwin is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Fryman of St. Charles, MO.; four siblings: William Erwin "Jack" Fryman and wife Deena of Dallas, Texas, Delores Williams and husband Norman of Chesterfield, MO., Jerry Fryman and wife Pam of St. Louis, MO. and Karen Sue Fortner and husband John of Tampa, FL.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mickey (Mrs. Edwin) Fryman of St. Louis, MO., Marvin Jinkerson and wife Maxine of DeSoto, MO, Pat Mason of Caledonia, MO, Glenda Smith and husband Chuck of Myrtle Beach, SC and Janie Britton and husband Bob of Caledonia and all of their children were always his extended family as well. He was a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews as he and Millie had no children of their own.

In addition to his parents, Elwin was preceded in death by his older brother, Edwin Fryman.

Elwin worked for many years at Century Electric Company spending twenty plus years in Lexington, TN and retired in St. Charles, MO. His mother knew Elwin, with his high intellect, needed to go to attend high school, so she sent him to live with his grandparents, Jerry and Lizzie Fryman in Potosi when he was thirteen. Elwin graduated at the age of sixteen as Valedictorian of his Potosi High School Class of 1951. He joined the Army and was in Ft. Lewis when he was discharged from a bad knee that he had injured as a child. He loved books, baseball and collecting many things like his massive record collection. He and Millie have enjoyed owning and operating a weekend’s flea market in in Caledonia for many years. Elwin will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the DeClue Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM.

A Memorial Service will commence on Saturday at 5:00 PM in the DeClue Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jeff Richards officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Ottery Cemetery. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

DeClue Funeral Home was privileged to care for the funeral arrangements for Elwin during this time of remembrance.
