Elvie Erstine Bell of Mineral Point, Missouri formerly of Ottery departed this life on April 23, 2012 at his residence having reached the age of seventy two years, seven months and thirty days. He was born on August 24, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri a son to the late Everett Bell and Opal (Fryman) Bell.
On August 23, 1958, Elvie was united in marriage to Carol Harbison and they shared fifty three years together.
Elvie enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a very multi-talented person. He was very creative and enjoyed painting, making furniture, landscaping and gardening. He was also a talented musician and played several different instruments.
Elvie served his community by serving as chairman of the Ottery Cemetery committee for several years. He also served as board member of the Belleview School District during his children's elementary education. He enjoyed his grandchildren especially his two great grandsons.
In addition to his parents, Elvie was preceded in death by two infant sons Charles Edward Bell, Dwanie Timothy Bell; daughter Lynda Annette Bell and a brother Francis Bell.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Carol Bell of Mineral Point; son Dwight Bell of Florida; sister Leota Lewis of St. Louis; brother and sister in law Tom and Sharon Wigger of Belgrade; four grandchildren Heather, Quentin, Bryana, Megan; two great grandchildren Levi and Carter; other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 11 AM at the DeClue Chapel with Chaplain Steve Stillman officiating.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Ottery Creek Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Family Funeral Home.
