Elmer Richards

Elmer Washington Richards was born on January 19, 1938, a son to the late William "Bill" James Richards and the late Sarah Irene Fowler. On September 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to Loretta Ward and they shared sixty-three years together. Elmer entered eternal rest on December 10, 2018 at his residence having reached eighty years of age.

In addition to his parents, Elmer is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta Richards; son-in-law, Charles Ridenour; granddaughter, Misty Dawn Lanham; five brothers: Allen, Walter, Albert "Shorty," Eddie and Herbert Richards; and three sisters: Velma Thurman, Gearlean Ward, and Charlene Henderson.

Elmer is survived by six children: Linda Ridenour, Billy (Krissy) Richards, Gene Richards, Joyce (Joe) Sampson, Annette (Willie) Harris, and Jeff Richards; brother, Ralph Richards; nine grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Theodore "Hank" Ward, James Ward, Ben (Joyce) Farris and Letty Mae Richards.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, December 13, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, December 14, 2018, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

A funeral service to honor Elmer will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., held at DeClue Funeral Home with Bro. David Reed officiating.

Interment and final prayers will be held at Redbud Memorial Gardens. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by DeClue Funeral Home.
