Elbert "Tom" Gullett

April 19, 1926 — January 13, 2017

Elbert “Tom” Gullett of Belgrade, Missouri was born on April 19, 1926 in Bell City, Missouri. Tom was a son to the late Fred Gullett and the late Iva (Summers) Gullett. On April 25, 1958, Tom was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Lorraine (Miller) Gullett.

Tom served in the United States Army from August 9, 1944 until October 31, 1946. During his time of service, Tom fought in World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and an Army of Occupation Medal. Tom worked for many years, retiring from General Motors and also as a Potosi City Police Officer. Tom served our community for approximately fifteen years.

Tom entered into eternal rest on January 13, 2017 at the NHC Healthcare in Desloge, Missouri having reached the age of ninety years, eight months, and twenty six days.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him including his three sons: Tommy Gullett and wife Armeda of Waynesville, Roger Gullett and wife Regina of Belgrade, and Larry Gullett of St. Louis; three daughters: Brenda Horton of Belgrade, Vicki Skiles of Festus, and Sherry Piechocinski of St. Louis; fourteen grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lorraine Gullett; sons: James Gullett, David Gullett, and Leroy Rulo; daughter, Evelyn Rogers; granddaughter, Tabitha White; son-in-law, Michael Horton; close family friend, Gary Mitchell; and a host of brothers, sisters, and relatives.

A Graveside Service for Tom will be held at the Horton Cemetery on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 12:00 PM with Tommy Gullett officiating.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
