Edward Eckstein

Edward Alvin Eckstein of Potosi, Missouri, was born on August 6, 1943 in St Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Robert Eckstein and the late Ruth (Broadway) Prewitt. Ed passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, having reached the age of 80.

Those who remain to cherish his memory include his better half, Betty Denton; daughters: Diane Franz, Karen Gilbert, Giget Price (husband, Vincent Price, Sr); sons: Jon Armani and Matt Cupp; grandchildren: Danielle Norman (husband, Lance), Rachel Nystrom (husband, Trent), Cassie Gilbert, Alyssa Gilbert, JR Price (wife, Kimmie), Danny Price, David Price (wife, Kendra), Shantila Thurmond (Fiance, Dylan Wilson), Ashley Mckernon (husband, Michael), Ally Rader; great-grandchildren: Molly, Landon N., Timmy, Bradley, Zoe, Landon A., Landon P, Hannah, Chloe, Hunter, Lexi, Ady, Amberly, Bella, Teegan, Nova, Knox; and the mother of his children: Barb Eckstein. Also surviving are other special adopted children, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his father at birth, Robert Eckstein; mother and father, Ruth & Ralph Prewitt; and brother, Charlie Eckstein.

Ed retired from McDonald Douglas after 30 years, working as a machinist. He loved mechanics so much that he taught his daughters how to do repairs as well. Every life that he touched he made brighter, and was a joy to be around. He loved joking with people, always wanting to make people laugh. Ed had a huge heart and always had a kind word to say to people. He loved to decorate for all of the holidays. He was tech savvy, loving his smartphones, watches, computers, and all sorts of gadgets. Ed and Betty always loved to go junking together when they had time. He will be missed by all of his family!

Visitation will be Monday, October 2, 2023 from 11 am until the time of his service at 2 pm, officiated by Elder Mike Jarvis, held at DeClue Funeral Home, 301 E High St, Potosi, MO, 63664.
