Edna Ray Phillips went home to Heaven on Saturday, September 14, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones at her home in Potosi, Missouri at the age of 73. She was born on November 4, 1945 in Attica, Arkansas to Fred James Crismon and Geannendle (Rose) Crismon.
Edna retired in 2001 from Washington County Division of Family Services after nearly thirty years of dedicated service, first as a caseworker and eventually as County Director. She spent her career advocating for children and trying to make their lives better in any way she could.
Edna was an enthusiastic Christian that sang in her church choir and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She always had a love for children. Even her daughter’s friends called her “mom” through the years.
Edna will be remembered for her sweet spirit, big heart for others, funny antics with her friends and co-workers, beautiful smile, devotion to Jesus, and her love for friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents William Edward and Edna (Montgomery) Crismon and maternal grandparents Almous K and Virgie (Flannery) Rose, two brothers, Lonnie Joe Crismon and James Edward “Eddie” Crismon, and two brothers-in-law Sherwin Wallis and Van DeVore.
Those who are left behind to treasure her memory and continue her legacy of loving others unconditionally are her beloved husband of fifty years, Carl Edward Phillips, of Potosi, Missouri; and daughter, Carla Renee’ Phillips Smith (Chad Smith) of Blue Springs, Missouri; along with her three grandchildren that she was so very proud of; Liberty Renee’ Smith, Chason Phillip Smith, and Chloe Ellen Smith. She is also survived by one brother, Bill Kenneth (Dana) Crismon of Minier, Illinois, and five sisters: Mary Francis Crismon, Naoma Alene (Clifford) Gaus, and Betty Jane Wallis all of Pocahontas, Arkansas; Virginia Letain DeVore and Linda Louise (J.D.) Stake all of Searcy, Arkansas. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends as well.
Visitations was held on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at DeClue Funeral Home 301 E High Street Potosi, Missouri.
A funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Potosi Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Isgriggs and Pastor Rick Posey officiating.
A second visitation followed on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at McNabb Funeral Home 2129 N Park St, Pocahontas, AR 72455, from 5 to 6 PM.
Interment was held Tuesday evening at Randolph Memorial Gardens in East Pocahontas, Arkansas at 6:15 PM.
