Edna Mae McAntire Asher of St. James, Missouri departed this life on October 2, 2006 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla. She was born on October 15, 1929 at Bismarck, Missouri, a daughter of the late Ray Lucas and Rosie Holt Lucas.
She was united in marriage to Robert McAntire in May, 1947. Seven children were born to that union. She later married Perry Asher who preceded her in death and one child was born to this union.
Edna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a long-time member of the Bates Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by a son, Edward Ray McAntire; a brother, Wallace Lucas; two sisters, Charolette Lucas and Betty Lucas.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of her life include her children, James McAntire and wife Connie of Irondale, George McAntire and wife Pam of St. James, Clyde McAntire of Springfield, IL; Margie Estep of St. James, Terri Copeland and husband Robert of Rolla, Marie Yon and husband Roger of Swansea, IL, Roseann James and husband Tommy of Lonedell; brother, Stanley Lucas and wife Phyllis of Potosi; sisters, Wilma Evans of Potosi, Shelba Odle of Potosi, Shirley Gibson and husband Rolla of Potosi, Carol Watts of Hannibal; twenty grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, October 6, 2006, 11 AM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Charles Evans officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Dennis McAntire, Ronnie McAntire, Glen McAntire, Roger Dale Yon, Danny Copeland and Frankie Hance.
Interment and final prayers were held at High Point, Cemetery, Potosi. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
