John Edward ?Eddie? Jenkins of Potosi, Missouri was called home by the angels on January 2, 2008 as he rested at his residence, having reached the age of seventy years, nine months and two days. He was born on March 31, 1937 at Potosi, Missouri, a son of the late Luther J. Jenkins and Florence C. (Eye) Jenkins.
On October 6, 1957, Eddie was united in marriage to Doris June Wallen at Potosi, Missouri and three children were born to that union. Doris and Eddie shared over fifty years of marriage together. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a dear brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Eddie was one of a kind. He never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone who needed help. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roxie Herbert Jenkins.
Those who remain to mourn the passing of his life include his wife, Doris Jenkins of Potosi; two sons, Rick Jenkins and wife Dana of Farmington, Robbie Jenkins and wife Susan of O?Fallon; a daughter, Jamie Meinershagen and husband Shawn of Terre DuLac; six grandchildren, Justin, Paige Joshua, Jacob, Ivy and Jason; two sisters, Burnadeen Yost of Fenton, Barbara Skaggs of St. Louis; a brother, Reggie Jenkins of Potosi; nieces; nephews; cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 1 PM at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Tim Walton, Terry Walton, John Walton, Clay Skaggs, Rusty Yost and Larry Allen.
Interment and final prayers were held at Belgrade Methodist Cemetery. All arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi, Missouri.
