Eddie Breakfield

July 4, 1941 — January 19, 2012

Eddie Ervin Breakfield of Potosi, Missouri departed this life on January 19, 2012 at his residence having reached the age of seventy years, six months and fifteen days. He was born on July 4, 1941 in Shirley, Missouri a son to the late Freddie Breakfield and Almeda (Hollinsworth) Breakfield.

On September 12, 1959, Eddie was united in marriage to Bessie Watson and they shared fifty two years together.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by an infant son.

Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Bessie Breakfield of Potosi; four sons Ted (Marsha) Breakfield of Potosi, Pete (Peggy) Breakfield of Potosi, Ervin (Joann) Breakfield of Potosi, Mark Breakfield of Potosi; two daughters Pam (Rick) Thompson of Patterson, Missouri and Barbara (Jessie) Scherrer of Desoto; six brothers Beauford (Betty) Breakfield of Potosi, Virgil (Ruth Ann) Breakfield of Potosi, Russell (Margaret) Breakfield of Potosi, Darrell Breakfield of Potosi, Montie Breakfield of Potosi, David (Mary) Breakfield of Wyoming, two sisters Vivian (Charles) Ledbetter of Leasburg, Missouri, Mildred (Tom) Campbell of Leasburg, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Eddie loved hunting and fishing but, more importantly he loved his family. He loved the smiles and hugs from all of the little ones that came into his life. He loved those grandkids and showed this by teasing them. He would tell them "I am going to brad your beak" and shook his fist at them. It never failed if Grandpa was sleeping and someone changed his channel on the TV he woke up and wanted to know who changed the channel and we always had to change it back.

He loved family reunions and getting together in the summer for BBQ's and fish fry's. As people gathered he would always greet them with open arms. He touched so many lives and was loved by everyone. His family and friends alike could never recall hearing anyone speaking a bad word about him.

Eddie took pride in working and supporting his family. He worked at Chrysler for 27 years and was a member of the UAW Union. He often told fond memories of the guys that he rode back and forth to work with and those who worked with him. If someone needed something Eddie was always there and willing to lend a helping hand. He was a loyal friend and a joy to be around. When someone needed money he would give you his last dollar. He made sure his friends and family never did without.

Eddie was deeply devoted to Bessie. Most would say that they were perfect for each other. In there 52 years of marriage they endured hard times, sad times but most of all, good times. Together they set a beautiful example to their children and grandchildren as to what a marriage was truly about. Together they cherished simple joys of life, like working in the flower beds, giving the flowers they had grown to their children, and a home cooked meal. They worked hard together but, when Eddie was ready to rest he wanted Bessie setting down beside him. He cherished his bride and truly felt blessed to have her by his side.
