Earl Keith "Keeter" Skaggs of Potosi departed this life on May 22, 2014 at his residence having reached the age of seventy one years, three months and two days. He was born on February 20, 1943 in Mineral Point, Missouri a son to the late Walter Skaggs and Iva (Gamble) Skaggs.
In addition to his parents, Keeter was preceded in death by a brother Curtis Skaggs, Gary Glenn Skaggs, Jackie Skaggs, Wayne Skaggs, Nickey Ray Skaggs and an infant sister.
On December 31, 1977 Keeter was united in marriage to Marilyn Faye Politte and they shared thirty six years together.
Keeter served in the United States Marines from May 31, 1961 to May 28, 1965 during the Vietnam Era. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. His Service Rank was Corporal (E-4).
Keeter is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marilyn Skaggs of Potosi; three daughters Mindy Kennon and husband Michael of Potosi, Kerri Skaggs and Fiance` Jordan Weir of Potosi, Lisa Marie Pasley of O'Fallon; brother Roger Skaggs and wife Debbie of Farmington, sister Peggy "Midge" Pyatt and husband Danny of Mineral Point; four grandchildren Kyle Pasley, Abi Kennon, Zak Kennon and lylee Weir; many other relatives and friend.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 beginning at 12 Noon at the DeClue Chapel with Elder Roger Skaggs officiating. Honoring the life of Keeter by serving as pallbearers were Michael Kennon, Jordan Weir, Kyle Pasley, Bobby Golden, Paul Politte and Don Skaggs.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Redbud Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by the United States Marines and the Local VFW Post #6996. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the DeClue Funeral Home.
