Doyle Owen Brown of Hopewell, Missouri, was born on April 23, 1954, in St. Louis. Doyle passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Joseph Jerome Brown and Mamie Alice (Owens) Brown.
Doyle’s career was marked by his dedication as a hardworking employee at General Motors in St. Louis, where he worked until the plant's closure in 1987. Throughout his life, Doyle enjoyed working on cars, a talent that brought him joy. Additionally, Doyle served with animal control in the Washington County area for several years. Doyle was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was adventurous and loved riding his dirt bike, finding excitement both on and off the roads.
Doyle was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Potosi where Doyle devoted much of his time and effort to various jobs within the church, with his best friend, Karen, right by his side. He was a fun person who cherished gatherings with family and friends, often filled with laughter. Doyle's love for his family was immeasurable, and he took great pride in the achievements of his children.
Doyle is remembered fondly by his life partner, Karen Ruble, whom he met in 1975. Their relationship flourished through the years, bringing forth countless precious memories that will forever be cherished. In addition, he is also survived by his seven children: Becca Nixon (husband, Buddy), Owen Bourbon (wife, Lora), Robert Ruble (wife, Boo), Kenneth Ruble, Julia Ruble, Gloria (Jeff) Eckhoff, and Pamela Ward (husband, Shawn). He was also a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Zack, River, DJ, Trenton, Micha, Avril, Robert Jr., Keisha, Stella, Michael, Jackson, Craig, and Kaley, along with fourteen great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his brothers, Tommy Ruble and Johnny Ruble, his niece, Tanaia Marshall; special friends, Carolyn Courtway, along with a large number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will undoubtedly miss him.
In addition to his father and mother, Doyle was preceded in death by an infant baby brother and two brothers: Amos Brown and David Brown, as well as a special cousin, Melvin Brown. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and love for family will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held at DeClue Funeral Home in Potosi on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM and continues the following day, Monday, January 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of his funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at New Diggins Cemetery.
